Duncan Barbour was the third generation of the Barbour family and a keen motorcyclist. In 1936 he introduced into the range a one-piece wax cotton suit called the Barbour International. The brand became so popular that it was worn by many riders throughout the 1950s up until the late 1970s. Since then, the stand-alone brand has evolved and now stocks a whole range of products that are rich in motorcycling heritage.
